When it was introduced in 1995 the 850 CSI was the pinnacle in styling and performance for BMW. Although the $100,000 price tag limited ownership, some felt it was one of the most attractive cars ever produced by BMW. The BMW 8 series commands respect and screams luxury and elegance. Young tuners want to race it and women want to know who drives it. I still walk away and look back at it. This is an aggressive yet elegant looking car. It will be a while before BMW designs something this sexy again.
Mechanics and enthusiasts want to see and marvel over the V12 300HP Engine. With a modest 0 to 60 in just under 7 seconds, impressive high end torque and cruising speeds electronically limited at 155mph, the 8 series is not a Sports Car but a GT Cruiser in the category of the Aston Martins and the Ferrari Maranello. With a gorgeous design inside and out this luxury coupe was a technical marvel in it’s time. History will record the E31 8 Series as one of BMW’s most memorable and practical Exotics.
There are only a few modern BMW Exotics… The M1, the Z1, and the 850CSI. Quick performance, high top end 155MPH speed, comfort and hi/tech gadgetry, V12 Engine, etc…
I’ve recently added Sports Mirrors and a new Exhaust System. To enhance the sound, I’ve hidden a Kicker Brand Box with two 10″ Speakers in the trunk. I’m also adding Mesh Screening, but it will hardly be noticeable. I think BMW designed this car correctly. There’s no need for aftermarket accents.
