Additional Facts:

Renault is a French car manufacturing company that has been manufacturing cars since 1897. The first car built by Renault was the Renault Voiturette 1CV. Production of the Voiturette 1CV was completed towards the end of 1898.

The Renault Corporation was founded in 1899 by the three Renault brothers, Louis, Marcel and Fernando Renault. The company became widely known in most of the European countries due to its participation in car races all across Europe. This exposure greatly contributed to the extremely fast growth of the company.

During the First World War (1914-1918) the company contributed to the war effort by manufacturing military airplanes, army tanks and ammunition. By war end, Renault was considered as the number one private manufacturing company in France. Their four cylinder engines were so popular that they were exported overseas to some of the American auto makers.

The Renault 4CV was secretly developed during World War II (1939-1945) during German occupation. The 4CV was unveiled to the public and the media at the 1946 Paris Motor Show. It went on sale in 1947 and production continued until 1961.

In 1956 the Renault Dauphine was introduced and it was supposed to replace the 4CV however, production of the 4CV did not stop then. It was not until 1961 when the Renault 4 was introduced, that production of the 4CV finally came to a stop.

My Ride’s Pictures:
59 Renault 4CV Description of Picture on the Left:
This is a picture of the 1959 Renault 4CV being made into a Hot Rod. Just hope that the owner will submit pictures of it when he is finished… Hopefully soon. I bet it will be a real head turner of a Hot Rod once finished. As is, it already has a Ford Cologne V6 and 4 speed Transmission installed according to the owner. Click on the Picture to enlarge.
Description of Picture on the Right:
Rear picture of the 1959 Renault 4CV. Great candidate to make a Hot Rod out of it. The Renault 4CV was secretly developed during World War II (1939-1945) during German occupation. 59 Renault 4CV Description of Picture on the Left:
This updated picture of the engine has just been submitted. This engine looks great and will look even better inside of the engine bay of the 1959 Renault 4CV. The engine is a 2.8 Liter 175 HP Ford V6, all stock except for a cam and porting. It has four SU side draft carbs. To today’s standards, 175 HP might not seem anything to brag about, but considering that the original engine had only 4 HP, this is a gigantic upgrade.
